What is a Legal Plan voluntary benefit?
A legal plan is a voluntary benefit that allows employees to access a range of affordable legal services. These services include Will preparation, estate planning, real estate contract reviews, assistance with traffic violations, and more.
With this plan, employees can work with network lawyers whose fees are covered by the monthly enrollment fee. There are no additional hourly charges for covered services.
Legal Plans provide members with access to legal services that are part of the plan and serviced by a dedicated provider law firm. This way, members are paying a monthly rate for a plan vs. an hourly attorney rate each time legal help is needed.
How Does it Work?
Rather than paying hourly rates for legal services; you can enroll in a Legal Plan offered through your company. This plan provides access to a dedicated provider law firm in your state, able to perform the specific services you need, without significant costs. Coverage and pricing will vary based on the plan you choose.
- Enroll. You can enroll in your company’s legal plan during open enrollment. Your Legal Plan is valid for a year from the effective date. Companies offer different ways to enroll (example: payroll deduction), so this information will be provided during your enrollment period.
- Set up your member account. You can begin using your legal benefit on the plan’s effective date. Set up your account in the Member Portal or download the LegalShield Mobile App

3. Get help. You will be assigned to a dedicated law firm that you can call anytime. You can request a consultation using your Member Portal or using the LegalShield Mobile App.
And if there is ever an emergency – an emergency line available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
